OCR: ARTISTS DREAM OF MARS H.G. WELLS ON ARF CINEMA & MUSIC REGI In the same year, the German mathematician and poet Kurd Lasswitz published "On Two Planets." This is the story of NALS three men traveling in a balloon who find themselves sucked out of the atmosphere to a space station inhabited by creatures resembling men. Actually they are Martians, and prove to be rather peaceful. They offer the Earthlings their scientific knowledge in exchange for water and fuel, which they are sorely lacking. But the English do not agree and interplanetary war breaks out ... French science fiction writer Arnould Galopin dreamed up a new means of space travel in 1906. The key was "repulsite," matter with anti-gravitational properties that made it possible to escape the Earth's gravitational field and journey to Mars. His novel is entitled, in English, "Doctor Omega, The Fantastic Adventures of Three French- men on the Planet Mars." E.RH SEPT U. MARS BETAT
